What is the difference between RFET qualifications and others?

The RFET degrees are in a transitional period, so they are considered federative, whilst the others are private.

What job market can I aspire to?

Both public and private organisations enjoy full freedom to exercise their right to hire people who, under their subjective selection criteria, meet the necessary requirements to carry out the position being offered.  This is based on the job description and person criteria and not on a legal requirement.

What legal requirements are there to practice the profession of tennis coach?

Spanish labour law states that the only obligation is to be a self-employed worker, be registered with the IAE in the correct section, and registered as a self-employed worker.  To be an employed person, the legislation does not establish any legal requirement, only that the minimum age is 16 years.

So, I don’t need any credentials to register for Social Security?

Correct.

Social Security does not require any type of accreditation and/or qualification of any kind to register and to be able to legally practice as a tennis professional

Why take the courses?

The fact that there is no legal requirement for accreditation this does not mean that the different public or private organisations will not require some formal qualifications to enable you to apply for a vacant position.  In fact, hiring an accredited coach gives them the peace of mind of knowing that they will be able to offer their athletes and/or clients a service that meets their quality standards.

What accreditation is required to act as a coach in Professional Tennis?

None.

The states that govern Professional Tennis: ATP, WTA, ITF, Davis Cup, Fed Cup and JJOO do not require any type of accreditation/qualification to act as coach or captain of players or teams.

Is there an association that supports/protects tennis coaches?

In 2019 the RPT, together with the Association of Professionals of Tennis Teaching of Spain (APE Tennis), in addition to other associations and organisations of sports coaches, created the Association of Professional Sports Training in Spain (APE Deporte), with 4  Objectives: the right of its members to work, the freedom of choice in their training, the right to be recognised and the right to work safely.

The RFET grants the Professional Tennis Coach License, which provides a series of advantages and benefits for all those coaches and professionals related to the world of tennis. It is aimed at thos coaches who continue their professional development and expand their knowledge in order to maintain the highest possible standards.
